Controversial star OJ Simpson and former US president Donald Trump were friends, as per the GOP presidential nominee, but they had a falling out later as Trump doesn’t have friendship with people who “kill their wives”.

The American football star and actor was found not guilty in the 1994 stabbing deaths of former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in Los Angeles, although he was found responsible for her death in a civil lawsuit.

Simpson died on Wednesday at the age of 76 after having a prolonged battle with cancer, leaving behind a controversial legacy.

Before the former American football player’s murder trial, Trump, according to Inquisitr, said that he was “good friends” with the actor, and they played golf together.

But later, he distanced himself from him as he realised he “killed his wife”.

“I hadn’t spoken to him in years, I don’t like people that kill their wives. Does that make sense? Does that make me a disloyal person?” Trump said during an interview with Howard Stern.

Trump also told Stern that he had wanted to invite Simpson for his reality show Celebrity Apprentice; however, NBC went “crazy” and shot down the idea as they seemingly wanted to stay away from controversy.
